Energy Management Corporation (EMC), located in Salt Lake City, currently has an opening for an Industrial Field Service Technician. We are a 38-year-old and growing industrial automation company that sells and services electrical motors, drives, and generators.

The Industrial Field Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, performing preventive maintenance as well as performing start-ups on motors, drives, generators and AC units.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, able to work well unsupervised with attention to detail, and possess exceptional customer skills.  Team members should be self-motivated with a good mechanical/electrical aptitude, and be willing to travel overnight on occasion or over a weekend.

Required Skills:

  • Perform preventive maintenance on generators, motors, drives, and AC units
  • Trouble-shoot problems on generators, motors, drives, and AC units
  • Diagnose problems using lap top computer
  • Perform repairs on generators, motors, drives, and AC units
  • Perform start-ups on new equipment
  • Perform warranty work on new equipment
  • Process required paperwork in a timely manner
  • Responsible for communicating repairs needed to both the customer and service manager
  • Responsible for parts inventory on service truck
  • Responsible for tracking time and expenses each day
  • Responsible for cleaning up after themselves
  • Willing to participate in the rotating responsibility of a 24/7 on-call-technician
  • Able to comprehend and troubleshoot from wiring schematics

Preferred Skills:

  • Generator, motor, drive and AC diagnostic skills
  • Previous experience in the generator, motor, drive and AC fields
  • Knowledge in AC and DC electrical HVAC experience with diagnostic capabilities
  • Knowledge on the basic workings of a diesel engine
  • Willingness to train in the company programs to enhance his or her generator knowledge
  • Trade school education in HVAC systems
  • Experience working with power generator equipment for a minimum of three years

Preferred Certifications:

  • EGSA and/or CDL certified would be a plus.
  • Strong welding experience a plus.
  • EPA 608 certification
  • Motor vibration

Applicants must be able to fulfill the physical duties of the job, which include being able to stand or walk for long periods of time, occasionally sit, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel, use wrists and hands for using tools, and looking down at the product being built. Applicants must be able to reach with hands and arms. Applicants must also be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
